Overall Impression

Thailand is a nice country. Thai culture is very unique and interesting. Diverse food also adds to the charm of Thailand. I was very excited when I arrived at Don Mueang airport. I can’t wait to spend my days here. I remember when I was picked up by Mr. Tung and Ms. Patt, they welcomed us warmly and explained a little about our activities during the Sea Teacher program. When I arrived at the dormitory, I felt that this dormitory was very comfortable for me to live in.

The next day, we met our Philippines friends and then we took the shuttle bus together to the demonstration school of VRU. We were directed to elementary school for short orientation. They welcomed us very well and we were given some souvenirs. Ms. Adam guided us well. She answered all our questions and put together our schedule. She said not to worry about anything and that we should just have fun here.

In the first week, the school held a like a market day in the field for 2 days. We enjoyed the event by buying some food made by our students. My first impression of this school is that this school pays attention to and trains the creativity of its students. And that has been proven until the day I wrote this reflection. In the second week, we made observations according to the time and place that had been arranged by Ms. Adam. There was an English teacher who accompanied us during the observations. They helped us in translating the conversation between the mathematics teacher and the students into English because the mathematics teacher taught in Thai during teaching. I observe the way mathematics teachers teach and observe some of the student’s behavior while learning. I also studied the teacher’s way of trying to give understanding to students. One day, the school held a fashion show in another building. I already said that this school really trains the creativity of its students, right? Yeah, it is. The models carried their dresses with confidence. They are like professional models. The dresses they make are also very creative and beautiful.

In the third and fourth weeks, we did teaching practice. Each of us was given the opportunity to teach 6 times a week. So we got 12 teaching opportunities. I teach grade 8/3 and grade 8/4. They are so amazing. The students were very enthusiastic, but some of them would feel sleepy during the day. It was so funny when I tried to wake up the student. I learned so much from the students that I am speechless now.

I am very grateful to all who have helped me in this program. To Teacher Adam, Mr. Tung, Ms. Patt, and to all the teachers who have accompanied and translated Thai into English during my observations. Thank you very much. I also don’t forget to thank Teacher Wachirawit who helped me correct my lesson plan and allowed me to teach in his class. Thank you to all of whom of course I cannot mention one by one, thank you for this best experience.
