Teaching Plan

That was my schedule for observations and teaching while I was taking part in the SEA Teacher program at VRU Demonstration School. The highlighted one is the class that I used for teaching practice. Grade 8/3 and grade 8/4. I have six hours of lessons to teach a week and I was given the opportunity to teach for two weeks.

VRU Demonstration school invited me to observe the class for a week to see the conditions in the class during learning. So that I can determine what I think is a good teaching plan structure. After a week of observing, I started to develop a teaching plan based on class and students condition.

Teaching 1-3

  • Grade : 8/3 and 8/4
  • Subject Mathematics
  • Topic : Polynomials
  • Time to teach : 3 x 50 minutes

Based on discussions with my cooperative teacher, I createda teaching plan with sub-topics : addition of polynomials, substraction of polynomials, and multiplication of polynomials. I also relate it to the material of flat shapes that perimeter and area of flat shapes. I made several revisions in making this teaching plan based on suggestions I received from my cooperative teacher.

Teaching 4-6

  • Grade : 8/3 and 8/4
  • Subject : mathematics
  • Topic Polynomials
  • Time to teach : 3 x 50 minutes

I plan to teach polynomial division in this section. I will give the students a traditional game from Indonesia called “Congklak”. I brought it from Indonesia and I will leave it at this school so the students can continue playing. I relate this congklak game to the material by giving them questions that they have to do if the get lose the game.
