Teaching Methods

VRU Demonstration School uses many teaching methods. The teaching methods used by each teacher may be different. I observed my cooperative teacher method (Teacher Wachirawit Hunchan) and also the grade 8 teacher (Teacher Preawpan Pasakul). Them steps for teaching are as follows :

  1. Ask for attention and dicipline students
  2. Make sure that students have mastered the previous material
  3. Starting new material by understanding the concept of the material
  4. If the teacher feels that students have understood the concept, the teacher starts to teach the abstract part
  5. The teacher gives examples of questions and discusses them together
  6. The teacher gives questions and asks students to do it
  7. The teacher corrects student’s answers and makes sure that they have understood

Learning Material and Inovation

The learning materials used by the VRU demonstration school are based on the curriculum. I observed the class when the tacher was explaining the volume and surface area of geometric figure. Teacher Preawpan Pasakul and Teacher Wachirawit innovate with available technology and facilities. They use electronic media to improve student’s understanding.

Sources of Learning and Technology

The learning sources are books that have been distributed to students, e-books displayed on the projector screen, as well as the teacher’s knowledge and experience in the material. VRU demonstration school really provides facilities in the form of new technology. There is some building at the school, namely the Science Learning Building (SLB). The building contains new technological equipment that can develop student’s abilities.

Authentic Assessment

Assessment at the VRU Demonstration School uses a variety of system. The system depends on the teacher who teaches. In the mid-semester assessment, the school fress up teachers to assess students. Assessments are held within a certain time frame and teachers are free to determine their own time. There is no special schedule for conducting assessment in the mid-semester assessment so that it does not burden students or teachers. Teachers can carry out assessments during teaching hours or outside class hours. Teachers can use e-assessment or use the paper asssessment.
