Teaching Practice

I will never forget my best experience teaching at this school. The teachers are very friendly and informative. The students there are also very pleasant. The always try to interact and communicate with me even thought I know that they have a little difficulty in speaking english. Yeah, it’s very challenging. I have to teach mathematics in English. I had to explain “math” to them in the foreign language to me and the students. Their enthusiasm made me excited. Also their smile and excitement will make mw miss them soon.

Procedures of Teaching

Opening Activity

  • Greeting
  • Review the material of last meeting
  • Discusses their homework (optional)
  • Explain the learning objectives

Main Activity

  • Doing apperception
  • Explanation
  • Giving example of the material
  • Giving stimulation
  • Problem statment
  • Data collection
  • Data processinng
  • Verification from the teacher

  • Giving assignments as reinforcement of understanding

Closing activity

  • Giving awards to students who show discipline and responsibility
  • Closing the lesson by greeting

Time Management and Organizing Activities

I plan every activity I do while teaching in a teaching plan. I wrote it there and arranged it neatly. But in the practice, of course I have several changes. Basically, I determine the time as follows :

  • Range 5-8 minutes for opening activity
  • Range 38-43 minutes for main activity
  • Range 2-5 minutes for closing activity

Problem Solving

I got some problems, they are :

  • I only use the white board as my teaching media. And my writing on the white board was too small so the student behind couldn’t read my writing clearly.
  • I don’t use technology as a learning media, so it does not reflect current developments
  • Some student spoke loudly in Thai and I couldn’t understand what they were saying so I couldn’t manage the class well at that time

Teacher Wachirawit as my cooperative teacher and Mr. Tung as my supervisior give me advice to improve my teaching practice :

  • I can engrave my markers so they are not too pointy, I can also increase my font size, and I can also use projector screen and laptop as alternatives
  • It doesn’t matter if it feels like the class doesn’t use technology as alearning media, I can use other learning media for the learning process
  • My cooperative teacher helped me to solve this problem because the teacher understands the language used by students

Classroom Management

I realized that 50 minutes of teaching time was very short. So I have to manage the class seriously. In the opening activity, I asked students to stay calm and not make any noise. In the middle of learning, I also remind students if they talking to each other. When I give assignments that they have to do, I wat for them by approaching their table one by one. I also check their work and noted to make sure that they understood the material.
